If you or someone you love experiences any of the following issues or you're interested in raising your consciousness, then this article is for you.
All of these unpleasant experiences can stem from a single common root cause - a dysregulated nervous system. Various factors, including trauma, chronic stress, and environmental conditions can cause the nervous system to become dysregulated. On a global scale, the last several years have been overly stressful for a high percentage of the population. On top of this, there are changes happening in our environment that you may not be consciously aware of. This has to do with an increase in the base resonant frequency of the earth, which is known as the Schumann Resonance.
When I look at the overall state of heath of society in North America it seems that the "American dream" is becoming increasingly unachievable. The landscape has changed so significantly that young adults are entering into a world where they cannot simply follow the same route that their parents and grandparents took and expect to achieve long term stability in their lives. They are in a position of having to figure out a new model in order to get their needs met. This lack of stability is likely having a very dysregulating influence on multiple generations, affecting the health of our communities. Collectively, the levels of trauma that people are carrying, combined with the break down of long standing systems of education, health care and government in my opinion, is bringing everything to a crunch point. Can you feel it? It's clear to me why there's been a steep rise in many of the issues listed above, signalling an epidemic of nervous system dysregulation. When operating in a state of dysregulation, individuals will automatically react to perceived threats with fight, flight, freeze or fawn. This system has helped us survive acute threats in our environment. However, when the nervous system is dysregulated it overreacts and perceives threats from more mundane situations and our response is limited to one of fight, flight, freeze or fawn. When an individual becomes cut off from their creativity and reasoning due to nervous system dysregulation, this removes them from using their problem solving abilities. The inaccessibility to the parts of our self that would be able to work through and resolve challenges from a higher perspective keeps us in a place of putting out fires rather than working to stop them from forming in the first place. Because of this, it becomes nearly impossible to make progress towards our goals. When our nervous system does not feel safe to take on any more, it will use self-sabotage as a protective mechanism. There's no escaping the effects of an overstimulated and dysregulated nervous system. Dysregulation might show up in someone's life as an inability to improve their situation. Maybe they are in an unhealthy relationship or job that makes them unhappy, yet not able to make the changes that would improve things for them. It could also present itself as someone who overreacts to minimally stressful situations or has no real reaction at all (freeze response). Previous trauma can trigger PTSD, where anything that reminds the person of their past traumatic experience instantly sends them into an unregulated state. Working through trauma can be an important part of the process to achieve long term nervous system health. According to psychotherapist, author and entrepreneur Benjamin Fry, many conditions with the "mental health" label are rooted in nervous system dysregulation. To get out of the cycle of stuckness the nervous system needs to be regulated. A couple years ago I realized that I was severely burned out. I had to learn what I needed to do in order to recover and not only that, I had learn how to make lasting changes so that I didn't get myself into the same spot again. I had been totally in the dark about the poor state my nervous system was in. This realization came somewhat by chance and it opened up a path of deep understanding. If you or someone you love is experiencing a dysregulated nervous system I hope this blog post will bring value. Listen to your body. Many of us have been conditioned to suppress our sensitivities. Because of this it can take some time and focused attention to notice how the nervous system reacts to different environments Get curious and pay attention to the subtle signals that your body is giving you. What in your environment is dysregulating you? You'll pick up more clues over time as you continue to curiously observe. When it comes to regulating the nervous system there are a lot of different practices that can be used. The great news is that they are all very accessible! Select a few things from the below list to spend time on each day. Try them all to discover which activities are the most regulating for you. And work to minimize whatever you have identified is causing dysregulation.
As you begin to regulate, your capacity to take on more will grow. Nervous system regulation will fuel you! And be aware that if you overdo it your nervous system will reel you back in. That is it's job after all 😉
The final piece that I want to mention about nervous system health is that it also goes hand in hand with your level of consciousness. Higher levels of consciousness are associated with more peace and more love, both for ourselves and others. Research in the field of consciousness has found that there comes a point where the nervous system needs optimization in order to keep rising. The research has shown that by taking magnesium and omega 3's in a specific ratio, the nervous system can be optimized in about 90 days. That ratio is 1000 mg's of magnesium to 4000 mg's of Omega 3. In the event of needing to recover from any intense event that has depleted the nervous system, sunflower lecithin can be used at 100 mg's per 10 lbs of body weight. The research can be found at www.flfe.net The nervous system is a key element in reaching a place of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health and the current global environment is putting a significant amount of pressure on this body system. Have you resonated with this at all? I'd love to hear your thoughts. If you know someone who may benefit from this information, please share! #StayCurious

Jennifer, thank you so much. I really like the word you used...dysregulated. it is much more descriptive than imbalance, especially where the nervous system is concerned. Very timely information and muchly appreciated. ❣️
